نهایتا باید بدانید که فرضیه، قسمتی از پروپوزال است که نگرش و هدف محقق را جزئی‌تر و دقیقتر بازگو میکند. محقق با نوشتن فرضیه به نوعی نتایج پژوهش خود را پیش‌بینی میکند. البته همانطور که گفته شد این پیش‌بینی نباید باعث شود که محقق در بیان نتایج غرض‌ورزی کند یا از گزارش نتیجه واقعی خودداری کند. فرضیه میتواند تأیید یا رد شود و رد یک فرضیه چیزی از ارزش‌های پژوهش انجام‌شده کم نمیکند. برای اهداف ویژه که به صورت تحلیلی هستند و ارتباط بین متغیرها را مشخص میکنند باید فرضیه به صورت یک جمله‌ی خبری نوشته شود.

West Texas Intermediate Crude oil futures for November rose $0.68 or 0.9 percent at 73.98 a barrel. WTI Crude futures gained 2.8 percent for the week.
